Be specific: "Tourism, route [city1] → [city2] → [city3], dates [X-Y], hotel [name] in [city1] for 3 nights, [name] in [city2] for 4 nights. Return [date] on flight [number]." Each night has a booking.

Do not answer "to relax in Europe" — too general. The more specifics, the lower the overstay suspicions.

Who is funding the trip?

Strong answer

"Self — bank statement for 3 months, balance X tenge" (or "employer — business trip 100% paid, stated in the letter"; or "the inviting party — sponsorship letter attached").

If self-funded — the amounts in the account must have been there for ≥ 3 months, not "added" a week before submission.
Question

What ties you to Kazakhstan?

Strong answer

List specifically: "Permanent job at [company] since [year], salary [amount], 2 weeks of leave by order #X. School-age child [name, year] at [school]. Own apartment in Almaty."

Do not use the word "family" abstractly. Concrete names, organizations, documents — each tying you to Kazakhstan.

Have you been refused a visa? If so — where and when?

Strong answer

If yes — be specific: "UK Visitor refusal in [date], reason 320(7A) — not appealed." If not — say directly: "Never received a refusal."

Concealing a refusal — grounds for refusal for 5 years. SIS sees it. Better to mention and explain that the cause was addressed.

Strong answer

Specific amount + source: savings, salary, brokerage account, sponsor support. Documented with a 3–6 month statement.

Not "enough" — a concrete number in the trip currency, matching the statement.

Strong answer

If yourself — name the income and savings. If a sponsor — attach a sponsorship letter, a copy of the sponsor's ID, and proof of their finances.

Do not confuse a formal booking with actual payment. Mismatch is grounds for refusal.

Strong answer

Specific addresses by date: a hotel with a confirmed booking or relatives'/friends' addresses with an invitation. Gaps in dates are a red flag.

An unpaid booking is not considered reliable — a confirmed (refundable + paid) one is better.

Why it hurts: Правило country of main destination: подавать нужно в посольство страны, где проведёте больше всего ночей. Подача в случайную = немедленный отказ по EU Visa Code статье 5.
How to avoid: Подсчитать ночёвки. Если поровну — в страну первого въезда. Маршрут должен соответствовать.
Подача в Германию при main destination в другой Schengen-стране
Why it hurts: Германия применяет правило country of main destination строго. Если 5 ночей в Берлине и 7 в Праге — это Чехия, не Германия. Подача в Германию = немедленный отказ.
How to avoid: Подсчитайте ночёвки. Подавайте в страну с большинством. Если ровно поровну — в страну первого въезда.

If you've had a refusal — a re-application plan

Если вы получили отказ Schengen-C от Германии:
1. В отказном письме указан код Annex VI (1-9). Без понимания кода повторная подача в ту же страну в течение 6 мес = повторный отказ. Сначала разобрать причину.
2. Право на формальное обжалование (apel/appeal) есть в течение 14-30 дней (срок зависит от страны). Подаётся в письменной форме на адрес посольства Германии.
3. Альтернатива апелляции — повторная подача с устранённой причиной. Часто быстрее. Сделайте копию пакета, добавьте новые документы по причине отказа, подайте заново.
4. Подача в другую Schengen-страну после отказа — формально не запрещена, но новая страна увидит отметку SIS об отказе. Лучше устранить причину и переподать в исходную.

Can I enter Schengen on a visa from one country and spend time in another?
Yes — Schengen-C grants the right of free movement within 27 Schengen countries. But you must apply to the country of main destination (where most nights are spent).
What if there is a refusal — where to appeal?
A written appeal to the German embassy within 14–30 days. Often more effective is to address the cause of the refusal and reapply (after 1–3 months).
